Obituary - Paul Stemmlich

Paul M. Stemmlich, 57, died September 28 in his west side home. Stemmlich, a self-described miser and do-it-yourselfer, was attempting to replace a circuit breaker panel in his basement when he was electrocuted. "He wouldn't call an electrician, or even shut off the main circuit," reported Susan, Stemmlich's widow. "He was sure he could fix it himself, and he didn't want the freezer to thaw while he had the power off." Emergency medical personnel were delayed in aiding Stemmlich because ever since he replaced the front door you have to jiggle the knob a certain way and Susan still has trouble doing that right.
