Christina M. Merrill, 42, died September 29 in the laundry room of her Westfield home. Merrill suffocated when an eight-foot-high pile of laundry collapsed on top of her. Her husband, Clark Merrill, and their three children Lindsey, 14, Tyler, 12, and Charlee, 8, did not discover her for hours. "We hadn't seen her all day, but she always seemed to like spending her Saturdays doing house stuff so we didn't think much of it," reported Lindsay. "But when the movie the rest of us were watching ended and it got to be dinner time, we wondered why we didn't smell anything cooking. Dad yelled for her a few times and finally went to go find her. I remember he was mad about having to get up, but then he felt pretty bad about that after he finally found her." Tyler added, "Oh man, my soccer clothes and my, um, 'special' socks were in that pile. What a horrible way to go." "It's weird," said Clark sadly. "Just yesterday she made such a big deal about being caught up on all the laundry."
