“Extremely dedicated” Civil War re-enactor James Fernley of Indianapolis, 45, died August 27 in Reams Station, VA of an accidental gunshot wound to the neck. Witnesses report that Mr. Fernley crawled a remarkable 60 yards after he was shot so that he could expire on the exact spot where Pvt. Zachariah Johnson, a replica of whose uniform Fernley was wearing, perished of a similar wound exactly 148 years earlier.
