Hostile Planet Discovered Between Venus, Mars

HOUSTON, TX - In what NASA scientists have hailed as a discovery of epic proportions, a dangerous and volatile planet has been identified along an orbital path between the planets of Mars and Venus.

NASA spokesman Andrew Hayes announced the discovery earlier today, insisting that the beautiful blue/green sphere - which is thought to be orbited by a single moon - was "anything but beautiful on its volatile surface."

"From all indications, the planet is not safe enough for humans to land on," said Mr Hayes. "Surface tests have confirmed that much of the dangerous activity is caused by various factors, such as money, politics and religion. And stupidity."

The planet, which is thought to possess a nitrogen-rich atmosphere and vast oceans, is never-the-less a huge source of interest across the scientific community because it may harbor conditions for supporting life.

"It's most certainly a possibility," continued Mr Hayes. "But if life does exist out there, it would likely be extraordinarily primitive."

Data beamed back to Houston has found that unconfirmed disturbances have been found along the planet's western hemisphere, while numerous mysterious explosions have been detected across what scientists have referred to as the central planes.
