Newt Gingrich Strangely Uncritical of Media Following Resounding Victory in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC - Just two days after launching a scathing attack on the American media following ABC News's potentially damaging interview with his ex-wife, presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was strangely uncritical of the very same media Saturday as he surprisingly soared to victory in the GOP South Carolina primary.

Despite chastising CNN for opening Thursday's debate with a question about his ex-wife's assertion that he had asked her to engage in an open marriage, Gingrich - in a seeming u-turn - appeared happy to ride the wave of victory that was afforded him by the news agenda of the past week.

"Today, we have shaken up this race and sent out a clear message to the other contenders," declared a resurgent Gingrich, making no mention of the fact that his victory owed much to overly-inflated opinion polls, extensive coverage of his campaign and, indeed, the very controversy he lambasted at this week's debate.

"Now we move on to Florida carrying a great deal of momentum with us," he said in front of assembled supporters, family members and hordes of the national press. "Together, we can defeat Barack Obama and reclaim the White House!"
