Jaden Diller, 16, died September 8 in his
candlelight-and-Atreyu-filled bedroom at his family’s Noblesville home when
“My Heart is a Black Hole,” the poem he had written for The Polk Street Review, Noblesville High School’s literary
magazine, proved accurate. The resulting singularity, into which the very matter
of Diller’s body was crushed out of existence, became unstable and
disintegrated moments later. Though there was considerable damage to the Diller home, the black hole that had been Jaden's heart did not last long enough to consume the entire planet as predicted in the poem. Diller’s school friends are reportedly mourning his
death, but there has been no discernible change from their usual clothing, mannerisms, or mood to
indicate this.
