William P. “Billy” Jessup, 59, died in the backyard of neighbor Clyde Parker, 54, when Jessup was slightly slower to exercise his Second Amendment rights than was Parker when the two men got into an argument at Parker’s block party. According to witnesses, the dispute was over who should get the last of neighbor Ginny Turner’s potato salad. “I had another bowl of it in the cooler,” said Ms. Turner. “But before I could even offer to go get it, them [sic] two got to yellin’ and next thing I know it was bang-bang-bang.” Parker, who was not injured, was taken into police custody after he surrendered to every other attendee at the block party, each of whom held his or her own Second Amendment rights on Parker until police arrived. “All I can say is thank God for the Second Amendment,” a tearful Ms. Turner added. “If people here hadn't had their guns, that fight might have turned out different [sic].”
